At our May meeting, we voted on changes to our Constitution that were necessary to obtain an IRS non-profit designation. An announcement was made that Dorothy Allison (mistakenly identified as Dorothy Allen in the April letter) would not be at the Lucy Hill Patterson Library on Wednesdays until further notice.
LaVerne Soefje, Milam County Clerk was our guest speaker. Each member received handouts of record information available for genealogical research in the County Clerk’s office. In addition to information about births, deaths, marriages, probates, brands, civil & criminal records, school census records, military discharge records, and real estate transactions, there was a survey map of Milam County that helps to locate residences and property of ancestors.
