Since I was not at the July meeting, I cannot report on it.

We have had three inquires about Missing Milam Ancestors:

QUERY: Linda Acord of Irving, TX - Seeking information on Frank & Nettie ROPER of Gause

QUERY: Claudette A. Mason of Lofgate, CA - Seeking information on G. L. GOLDSON & A. A. GOLDSON

QUERY: W. D. Kirkpatrick of Ocean Springs, CA - Seeking information on Edgar B. PHILLIPS & family

The information above came from Marie Hubert. She also asked me to put a note in The Legacy concerning a session sponsored by the Texas State Genealogical Society to be held at the Bellmead Civic Center. She and Cotton are interested in having a group go. Among the topics covered is identifying maiden names of ancestors. Pre-registration is $20. Registration at the door is $25.

We have two new members as a result of handling inquires:

RESEARCH TIMES - from Victoria Crossroads of South Texas, publication of the Victoria County Genealogical Society, Vol. XVI, No. 2, Spring 1995, p. 14.

The Kentucy Dept. for Libraries & Archival Services now charges an $8 non-refundable research fee for genealogical requests from outside the state. The fee covers up to 30-minutes of research in indexed materials and up to 3 reader-printer copies from microfilmed records or 6 copies of original records or secondary sources. Patrons will be billed ($3 minimum, plus postage) when copies are sent. Reference Request Forms are free. Write: Archives Research Room, Kentucky Dept. for Libraries & Archives, P. O. The Catholic Houston-Galveston Diocese Church Records [birth, deaths, marriages] are on microfilm up to 1989 from the beginning and can be viewed up to 1920 with no problems. the years 1920-1989 are private. Call Lisa May, Archivist Houston Chancery Office for further information.
