BERAN, Ronny Lee of Thrall. Age 23. Died 2/1/1976 (Sunday). Services were held at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial in St.Mary's Cemetery. He was killed in a traffic accident near Thrall. He was BORN 8/29/1953 in Taylor and lifetime resident of Thrall. He graduated from Thrall High School and was employed by Schroeder Bros. Construction Co. Member of St.Mary's Catholic Church. BERG, Thelma Lankford, Mrs., of Taylor. Age 62. Died ?/1969 (Sat.) in an Austin hospital. Services held (Tuesday) from Condra Memorial Chapel in Taylor. Burial in Taylor City Cemetery. Rev. Oscar James officiated. Condra Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. She was BORN 1907 and a former resident of Thrall. He was well known in Thorndale. Attended the Thrall schools, and was among the ex-students back each October for the reunion. SURVIVORS: Son, John E. Burks of Taylor; 3 brothers, Hosea R. Lankford of Lubbock; John C. Lankford of Abilene and Milton J. Lankford of Denver, CO.; 3 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

BERNARD, Clyde of Thorndale. Age 86. Died 11/1970 (Monday) in a Taylor Nursing home. Services held (Wed.) from the Condra Memorial Chapel. Burial in Taylor City Cemetery with graveside rites conducted by a military unit of Fort Hood. Rev. Dan Smith, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Taylor,officiated. BORN 10/09/1888. He was a member of the Baptist Church, a Mason and a Veteran of WW-1. He was also a past law officer. SURVIVORS: 2 daughters, Mrs. Gene Slussler of Austin and Mrs. J.L. Gorsuch of Oakridge, TN.; son, Claude Bernard, Jr. of Austin; 4 sisters, Mrs. Estelle Young of Taylor, Miss Isadel Bernard of Longview, Mrs. Adams Carnes of Waco and Mrs. Bruce Crum of Bastrop; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. BERNHARDT, Adolph H. of Thorndale. Age 80. Died 8/1971 (Monday) in a Taylor hospital following several months illness. Services held (Wednesday) in the Condra Memorial Chapel in Taylor. Burial in Taylor City Cemetery. Rev. James Heineke, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, Thrall officiated. BORN 9/08/1890. He was a lifelong resident of Thrall and father of Roy E. BERRY, Ela, Mrs. (A. L.) of Baytown. Age 83. Died 12/1981 (Tuesday) in a Baytown hospital. Services held (Thursday) 12/10 in Baytown. Burial in the cemetery there. She was BORN 2/28/1898. SURVIVORS: 2 sisters, Mrs. Leslie Lamb of Rockport and Mrs. Tommy Newman of San Antonio; 2 brothers, Ray Chambers of San Antonio and O.B. Chamber of Thorndale; a grandson and a granddaughter. Ray Chambers came to Thorndale to accompany M/M. O.B. Chambers of Baytown to attend the services, where they were joined by Orrin Chambers, Jr. of Brownsville and M/M. Robert Fisher of Ballinger. BERRY, Emery of Thorndale & LaPorte. Age 66. Died 1/1970, having been in very poor health for a year. Services held (Sat.) at First Baptist Church in LaPorte. Burial in Grandview Cemetery near LaPorte. BORN 1/19/1904, he was a retired business man in LaPorte. Known to his many friends in Thorndale area as "Pancho" was born, reared and received his education in the Thorndale Public Schools. Member of the First Baptist Church of LaPorte. Preceded in death by brother Jesse, 12/26/1969. SURVIVORS: Wife, Nora; 3 step-children; 2 brothers, S.M. (Shine) Berry of Thorndale and Melvin Berry of Baytown; 2 half-sisters, Mrs. Eula Garner and Mrs. Allie Locklin of Pasadena; number of nieces and nephews. BERRY, Emmy, Mrs. (Wilfred R.) of Austin. Age 76. Died 1/1970 (in paper 1/15/70) at her residence in Austin following a brief illness. Services held (Sat.) at the Cook Funeral Home. Burial followed in the church cemetery at Austin, with her pastor in charge of both services. She was BORN c.1894. Married Wilfred R. Berry on 12/16/1917, he preceded her in death on 10/30/1967. She was a former Thorndalian and resided in Austin for the past 30 yrs. Also, a member of Crestview Methodist Church, Austin. SURVIVORS: Brother, Joe Alda of Sealy; number of nieces and nephews. She was the sister-in-law of Mrs. Guy Phillips and Mrs. W.D. Reeves of Thorndale.

BERRY, Gusta, Mrs. (Silas) of Rt. 1, Thorndale. Age 82. Died 7/18/1986 (Friday) in Johns Community Hospital. Services held (Sunday) from the First Baptist Church in Thorndale. Burial in the Thorndale City Cemetery. Rev. A.R. McGee, Jr., officiated. She was BORN on 9/26/1903, lived in this area for the past 17 yrs. and a member of the above church. Burial in the family plot in Salty Cemetery. Rev. C. Robert Flournoy of Houston, a grandson, officiated. She was BORN 11/29/1875 in the state of Alabama to Frank & Belle Jackson. She moved to Texas with her parents at 10 yrs. of age and settled in Salty Comm. Married John A. Berry in 1894. She united with the church in early girlhood and was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church of Thorndale. Preceded in death by husband, John A. Berry in 1952, son, Sanford and a daughter, Lora Mae, affectionately called "Kid". SURVIVORS: 4 sons, Wilford and Luther Berry of Austin, Lee and O.M. Berry of Houston; 2 daughters, Mrs. (Connie B.) Guy Phillips and Mrs. (Johnnie) W.D. BERRY, J. D. of Temple. Age 75. Died ?/1987 (Sunday) in a Temple hospital. Services held (Monday) at the Memorial Baptist Church in Temple. Burial in Bellwood Memorial Park. Dr. R.D. Baker officiated. He was BORN 1/28/1912 in Thorndale, the son of Joseph David & Beulah Buffington Berry. Lived in Temple for last 50 yrs. Married Evelyn Davis on 7/5/1931. Employed by Santa Fe Railroad and retired as a yardmaster. Member of the Yardmasters Asso. of America and member of the Memorial Baptist Church of Temple. SURVIVORS: Wife, Evelyn of Temple; son, Daniel Berry of Lancaster; daughter, Geneva Berry of Temple; 2 brothers, Cecil Berry of Temple, W.W. Berry of Austin; 2 sisters, Gladys Townsend and Geneva Robbins, both of Taylor; 5 grandchildren. He was a nephew of S.M. Berry of Thorndale. (Railroad Retirement)

BERRY, James Leslie of Thorndale. Age 87. Died 3/17/1983 (Thursday) in Scott & White Hospital in Temple after a brief illness and surgery. Services held (Sat.) at the Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial in Locklin Cemetery. Revs. Hugh F. Stultz and George Frye, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiated. Condra Funeral Home of Taylor in charge of arrangements. Mr. Berry was BORN 10/14/1895 in Dawson, TX., the son of Rev. J.B. & Alice Wilkes Berry. Graduated from Bartlett High School, attended Southwestern Univ. and SMU. He was a retired clerk of the Missouri-Pacific Railroads. Served on the Thorndale City Council and was chairman of the Board of Stewards of Trinity Methodist for more than 20 yrs. Lived in Thorndale for 25 yrs. SURVIVORS: Wife, Grace Davis Berry, whom he married 5/18/1941; 2 sons, Keith Davis of Tempe, AZ. and Neil Davis of Los Alamos, NM.; sister, Mrs. Joe (Lora) Tomlinson of Ft.Worth; brother, Charles M. BERRY, Jessie S. of Thorndale & LaPorte. Age 66. Died 12/26/1969 (Thursday) having suffered a heart attack. Services held at Pat H. Foley Chapel of the Chimes in Houston. Burial in the Brookside Memorial Park, Houston. Rev. Ray Turner and Rev. Bob Flourney officiated. BORN 8/01/1899, he was the oldest son of M/M John Berry. Born and reared in the Nile Community. Moved to Houston about 35 years ago and at the time of death was an operator of a Texaco Service Station. SURVIVORS: Wife, Ethel Lawson Berry, Houston; mother, Irene Berry of Thorndale; 2 daughters, Mrs. W.J. Butterfras of Cypress; Mrs. W.L. Sawyer of Houston; 3 sons, Johnnie Matt and B.J. BERRY, Marion Willard of Houston. Age 46. Died 3/1972 (in paper 3/16/72) when he was killed in a car-pedestrian accident. Services held (Monday) from Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home in Houston. Burial in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Rev. Elvis H. Egge officiated. He was BORN 3/28/1925 in Thorndale, the son of S.M. & Ruth McClendon Berry and reared in Thorndale. He was a resident of Houston since 1942 and was head tester in the laboratory of Atlantic Richfield Refining Co. at the Pasadena plant.
