BIAR, Herm., Mrs., of Giddings. Age 74. Died ?/1944 (Monday). Services were held (Monday) in Giddings. BORN c.1870. She is SURVIVED by her 80-year old husband and 2 sons, Rev. Gus Biar of Tennessee and Herm. Biar, Jr. of Dallas. She was the oldest daughter of the late Squire Aug. Miertschin, who was commissioner in Lee County over a long period of years. Some of those who attended their aunt's funeral were M/M J.E.G. Biar, M/M Otto Biar and Otto, Jr.; Also, Mrs. John A. Urban and brother, E.A. Miertschin, and Rev. & Mrs. P.B. Miertschin of Noack. BIRD, Wilbur of Austin. In 1943 he was reported missing since Sept. 19th. He was with the 36th Division on the Italian front and was a classmate of James (Buddy) Locklin when here (Thorndale) in school. He joined the National Guard at Caldwell where the family later moved and went to the army from there. He had been overseas since about the first of April. His wife and baby live in Austin. (See Mrs. J.J. Bird's, his mother, obit for other survivors.)

BITTNER, Reinhold F. of Coupland & Thrall. Age 61. Died 12/1968 (Wed.) (appeared in paper 12/19/68) suddenly in a Taylor hospital. Services held from the St. John Lutheran Church in Thrall. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. He was BORN 2/19/1899 in Milam Co. Joined the Sheriff's Dept. as a deputy in 1941. Became County Sheriff in a special election, July, 1944. He retired in 1976 after 32 years as Sheriff of Milam Co. He was a member of Cameron Volunteer Fire Dept. for 20 years. His philosophy was "to work all the time and be on call 24-hours a day, 7 days a week". Member of Little River Baptist Church and a member of San Anders Masonic Lodge #170. At the time of his death he was manager of the office of Lentz Newton Co. in Temple where he had moved in April "this year" from El Paso. BLACKWELL, Mrs. Emily B. of Houston & Thorndale. Age 94. Died 3/28/1976 in Waller County Hospital, Hempstead. Graveside services held at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Houston on 3/30/1976. She was BORN on 10/22/1882 in Rusk, TX. Widowed at age of 27, she moved to Houston with her 3 children in 1918. Moved to Thorndale in 1965 to be near M/M Porter Shine. When her health began to fail at age 92, she went into a rest home in Hempstead. Member of First Baptist Church, Thorndale. Preceded in death by 3 children and 1 grandson. BLAINE, Mrs. Morrow of Visalia, CA. Age 70-71 Died ?/1970. BORN 9/07/1899. Aunt of Mrs. Newton Butts. Mrs. Blaine visited her niece several times and friends of the family knew her as Tinker's "Aunt Ethel" She was Mrs. Butts' last surviving aunt. BLAKENEY, Vickey Lynn of Lott. Age 17. Died 6/1975 (Sat.) when she was killed in a 1-car auto crash about 1-1/2 miles north of Cameron on U.S. 77. She was a passenger in an auto operated by Cody Hugh McBay of Bartlett. (No other information listed.)

He was a cattleman/rancher in Midland and San Antonio until he retired. Married Fay Arnim 6/17/1912 in Flatonia. Wife preceded him in death in 1963. Past 12 years he resided with his daughter & son-in-law, M/M Henry G. Wicks in Rockdale, Pt.Lavaca, Pittsburgh, PA. and then returned to Rockdale for the final year of his life.
