BOEDEKER, Stasie of Taylor. Age 77. Died 1/27/90 (Sat.) at her home. Services held (Monday) in the Taylor Brethren Church. Burial in Taylor City Cemetery. Revs. James Hejl and Lonnie Urban officiated. She was BORN 4/15/12 in Caldwell to Paul & Rosalia (Gavenda) Matyastik. Lived in Taylor for past 52 years and was co-owner of Boedeker Gin with her husband, Henry Boedeker, for 32 years. Preceded in death by husband on 12/1/89, a sister and 2 brothers. BOLES, Kirby of Nile Community & Cameron. Age 81. Died 8/1963 (Friday) in an Austin hospital after a lengthy illness. Services held at Green's Funeral Home, Cameron. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Moved to Cameron in 1935 living there until 1935. Prior to moving to Cameron he lived from 1897 until 1935 in the Nile Community where he was BORN on 10/26/1882 and reared. He was a former agent for the Southern Pacific Railroad. SURVIVORS: Brother, Surrey Boles of Houston; 3 sisters, Mrs. Lorena Lannon and Mrs. Bruce Cain of Austin and Mrs. Jimmy Williamson of Wilson. BOLES, S. S. (Surrey) of Thorndale & Houston. Age 81. Died 2/1976 (Thursday) (appeared in paper on 3/4/76) in Houston. Services held Friday in Cook-Walden Funeral Home, Austin. BORN 1/25/1895 and reared in Thorndale. Attended school in Thorndale and was Postmaster for a number of years in the 1920's. He was married to the former Bert Thomas of Thorndale during WW-1, while he was stationed in San Antonio. SURVIVORS: Wife, Mrs. S.S. Boles of Houston; daughter, Mrs. Bert Boles Smith of Houston; granddaughters, Mrs. Judy Tyer of Washington, D.C., Jennie Smith of Houston; sisters, Mrs. H.R. Williamson of Wilson, Mrs. Ernest Lanmon of Elgin; foster sister, Mrs. Robert Cain of Austin. SS Death Benefit on #466-01-2535 under name of Surry Boles.

BOND, Mrs. E. W. (Eula) of San Antonio. Age 53. Died ?/1961, Friday morning unexpectedly in Brooks General Hospital in San Antonio following a heart attack. Services held Sunday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Chapel in Rockdale. Burial in Pleasant Retreat Cemetery in the family plot. Rev. Calvin Beckendorf pastor of the Methodist Church of Minerva conducted the services. Mrs. Bond, nee Eula Virginia Stiles, daughter of M/M Frank Stiles was BORN 7/18/1908 in the Conoley Community. She received her early schooling in the Conoley school, later going to Rockdale where she graduated. She also was a graduate of Southwest Texas State College in San Marcos. Married E.W. Bond of San Antonio on 7/17/1941. She was a member of the Methodist Church, having joined the church in early girlhood. At the time of her death she was affiliated with the Asbury Methodist Church of San Antonio. Member of Texas Chapter, Easter Star Number 30 of San Antonio and a member of the Dell-View School faculty in San Antonio. Mrs. Bond was known as "Miss Eula" to many students that she taught during her 23-year career. Her father, Frank Stiles, preceded her in death on 12/6/1960. SURVIVORS: Husband, E.W. Bond; 2 daughters, Mrs. Mary Ann Pearce and Sara Jane Bond all of San Antonio; her mother, Mrs. Frank Stiles of Thorndale; brother, Dean Stiles of Thorndale.

BONDS, Arlen Curtis of Thorndale & Alvin. Age 38. Died 12/18/1972 in John Sealy Hospital in Galveston where he was hospitalized after being critically burned Saturday, 12/16/1972, while sand blasting a ship at Galveston. Services held Thursday from the Missionary Baptist Church in Alvin, TX. Burial was at Henderson later "during the day". He was the son of Mrs. Ruby Markham and the late Johnnie Bonds. He was BORN in Thorndale 5/22/1934 and resided in the area most of his early life. He was a member of the Baptist Church at Lake Jackson. SURVIVORS: Wife, Joyce; 2 sons, Eddie and Clinton Scott Bonds, all of Alvin; mother, Mrs. Ruby Markham of Baton Rouge, LA.; brother, Johnny Boyd Bonds of Australia; number of aunts, including Mrs. Allie Moore and Mrs. Lemmie Titsworth; an uncle and other relatives in Thorndale area. BONDS, Mrs. Bettie (Boyd) of San Gabriel. Age 72. Died 9/1/1949 (Thursday) morning at her home following a long lingering illness. Services held at the Conoley Church on Friday. Burial in the Conoley Cemetery. Rev. Oscar Morgan officiated. Condra Funeral Directors in charge of all arrangements. Bettie Staggers Bonds was BORN 7/31/1877 at San Gabriel, TX. She united with the Salty Baptist Church at the age of 15. She was married on 1/12/1893 to Boyd Bonds, who preceded her in death 7/5/1946. Also preceding her in death were 2 daughters and 1 son. Mrs. Bonds had been a member of Thorndale Baptist Church since 1931. SURVIVORS: 5 daughters, Mrs. Lois Titsworth of Thorndale, Mrs. Hattie Titsworth of Houston, Mrs. Nolan Cast of Lake Jackson, Mrs. Allie Moore of Austin, Mrs. Florence Rowe of Taylorl; son, Scott Bonds of Thorndale; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Bonds also reared 2 grandsons, Johnnie Boyd and Curtis Bonds; also a sister, Mrs. Lula Chandlers of Cameron and brother, Ross Williamson of Wilson survive her.

BONDS, Buchanan F. of Cameron. Age 78. Died 10/1965. Services held Thursday in Cameron. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cameron. BORN 4/22/1887. Those attending from Thorndale were M/M Norman Clement and Norma Jean, Mrs. Jack Clement, Mrs. E.E. Harbers, A.W. Fuchs and Lyngle D. Barnes, Sr. Other relatives joining them were M/M Robert L. BONDS, L. S. of Ft.Worth. Age 84. Died ?/1961, Monday, in a Ft.Worth hospital following a brief illness. Services held in Moore's Chapel, Ft.Worth with the Rev. Stanley Brown officiated. Burial in Pleasant Retreat Cemetery Wednesday, Rev. Reuel J. Cooper, pastor of First Baptist Church of Thorndale, officiated. Mr. Bonds was BORN in Salty 12/18/1877 to the late Capt. and Mrs. Boyd Bonds. Member of the Handley Baptist Church in Ft. Worth and had lived in Ft. Worth for the past 15 years. He was a retired farmer. Preceded in death by his wife in 1953. SURVIVORS: Son, Earl D. Champion of Pampa; 2 daughters, Mrs. Anita Sampson and Mrs. Arlie Webb, both of Ft.Worth; brother, Tom Bonds of Morton; 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

BONDS, Mrs. Lois (Scott) of Thorndale. Age 63. Died 10/1969 (Wed.) (in paper 10/30/69) unexpectedly, while being carried to a Taylor hospital. Services held (Friday) from the Condra Memorial Chapel in Taylor. Burial in the Taylor City Cemetery. Rev. J.W. Wilson and Rev. Dean Parmer officiated. Condra Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. She was BORN 9/10/1906 at Burnet, TX., but had lived in the Thorndale area most of her life. Member of the First Baptist Church of Thorndale. Married Scott Bonds on 12/7/1949. SURVIVORS: Husband, Scott Bonds of Thorndale; son, James Nutt of Brenham, 2 sisters, Mrs. Jesse Wilson and Mrs. Betty Harrison, both of San Gabriel; 3 brothers, Will B. Howard Buchanan officiated. BORN 10/06/1897. He was a retired farmer and lifetime resident of the Thorndale area. Member of First Baptist Church in Thorndale. BONEY, David A. of Rockdale. Age 85. Died 12/19/1988 in Richards Memorial Hospital. Services held 12/23 (Friday) at New Hope Baptist Church. Burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Rev. A.E. Chew officiated. Dorsey-Keatts Funeral Home of Cameron in charge of arrangements. He was a longtime Rockdale resident, having moved to Rockdale in 1942. BORN 8/05/1903 to M/M Wright & Georgia Boney of Calvert. Attended Fisk University and Tennessee State University, both in Nashville, TN. He went on to receive a masters degree from Prairie View A & M University. Married Ruth Johnson on 4/20/1946. He was a longtime vocational agriculture instructor, having taught in Rockdale, Hobart, OK. and Calvert. Member of New Hope Baptist Church where he was president of the senior choir and group leader in the Baptist Training Union. Chairman of the deacon board and Sunday School Superintendent. He served on the board of trustees of Richards Memorial Hospital for many years. Member of Rising Sun Lodge No. 23 and Webb Smith Consistory No. 247. SURVIVORS: Wife, Ruth Boney of Rockdale; 2 daughters, Deborah Boney Gadison of Houston and Peggy Boney Culberson of San Antonio; 1 grandchild and 5 great-grandchildren. BONIN, Edith Gambrell of Port Arthur. Age 78. Died 1/2/1990. Buried (Thursday) 1/4/1990 in Port Arthur. She was BORN 11/15/1911 and grew up in the Thorndale Comm. Resided in Port Arthur since 1928. SURVIVORS: 3 daughters, Donna Boneau, Bessie Morris and Geneva Boyer, all of Port Arthur; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. BOUNDS, Robert Lee of Rockdale. Age 57. Died 7/1973 (Monday) at Richards Hospital, a victim of cancer, and had been in failing health for several months. Services held (Wed.) at Phillips & Luckey Chapel. Burial in IOOF Cemetery. Rev. Tim Griffin, pastor of First Christian Church, officiated. He was BORN 3/7/1916 in Rockdale, the son of M/M. Luther T. Bounds. Married Miss Ruby Clara Armstrong on 5/26/1935 at Rockdale. He was a lifelong resident of Rockdale and was officially retired from the Soil Conservation Service on 6/30 after more than 30 yrs. service. He was also a barber and barber shop operator in Rockdale for many years. Member of the First Christian Church and Rockdale Masonic Lodge. BOWLING, Mrs. Edna M. (George) Thorndale. Age 71. Died 9/1968 (Saturday) in a Taylor hospital following a lengthy illness. Services held from the First Baptist Church. Burial in Taylor City Cemetery. Her pastor, Rev. Thomas Walden, officiated. Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home, Rockdale, in charge of arrangements. She was BORN 5/2/1897 as Edna M., daughter of M/M Henry H. Cochran, in Lincoln, KS. Married George Bowling on 6/15/1920 in New Mexico. Mr. Bowling preceded her in death 4/17/1966. She had been a resident of the area since 1944 and lived in Thorndale since 1961. Member of First Baptist Church, she was active in WMS and had taught the Dorcas Sunday School class. She was a devout Christian woman. Her memorial service was carried out as she had requested: Leroy Cast singing "The Old Rugged Cross". Mrs. Thomas Walden sang "Let the Lower Lights be Burning". Her favorite Bible quotations were used during her last rites. A lovely eulogy was read from her son, Braxton, who was unable to attend. Mrs. Bowling was a active member of the Hill-Johnson Auxiliary of the VFW Post 4009 and a member of the auxiliary of Emil Hengst Post 131 of the American Legion. SURVIVORS: 3 sons, James Bowling of Saudi Arabia, G. Braxton Bowling of Lackland AFB, San Antonio and Fred T. Bowling, Houston; 2 daughters, Mrs. B.B. (Ada Mae) Hobbs, Austin and Mrs. J.D. Burial in Brookside Cemetery. Nephew of Earl Bownds and Mrs. Babe Yount of Thorndale. Cousin of Mrs. Elmore Lincoln of Thorndale. He was the son of Ervin and Beatrice Franklin Bownds. John Craig officiated. BORN 1/6/1921 in Milam County. Lived most of his life in the Houston area. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW-2. He graduated from the University of Houston and retired from Charter Oil Company. Preceded in death by parents, Ervin A. and Beatrice (Franklin) Bownds; brother, Adrian Bownds and sister, Joye Bownds Schmidt; also grandparents, John H. and Daisy Keen Franklin and Ira and Addie Coffman Bownds were natives of Milam County. Married Miss Dorris Miller on 4/15/1922 in Cameron. A son, Frank Hubert, preceded him in death in 1948. SURVIVORS: Wife, Dorris Bownds of Rockdale; daughter, Mrs. J.P. Clyde Majors, pastor of Holland Baptist Church and the Rev. Larry Gilbert, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Thorndale officiated. Condra Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Music for the services according to her wishes were sung by her son-in-law, John Marshall, Jr. and her nephew, the Rev. Clyde Majors delivered her funeral eulogy. Pallbearers were nephews: A.A. BORN 7/20/1893 near Nile. She married Ira Earl Bownds on 10/6/1918. She was a member of the Baptist Church from early girlhood and was very active in her church program for many years until illness over 4 years ago curtailed her activities. For many years she had made her home in other parts of Texas, but expressed a desire to return to Thorndale to be among relatives and friends a month ago. Her wishes were carried out. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Ralston Earl. 4 sisters, Mrs. Eva Clark, Mrs. Sally Powers, Mrs. Belle Guthrie and Mrs. Elizabeth Avrett; 2 brothers, Tom Ralston and Math Ralston. SURVIVORS: Husband, Ira Earl Bownds; daughter, Mrs. John (Dorothy Sue) Marshall of Houston; son, Ira James Bownds of Bakersfield, CA.; sister, Mrs. Verlie Gant of Thorndale; brother, J. Guy Ralston of Thorndale; 7 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends.

BOWNDS, Ira J. of Thorndale & Rockdale. Age 84. Died 7/26/1953 (Sunday) in St. Edwards Hospital, Cameron. He had been in ill health for some years and was critically ill for a week before his passing. Services held (Monday) 7/27/1953 in Phillips & Luckey Chapel, Rockdale. Burial in the old Mesquite cemetery. Rev. O.J. Morgan, pastor of Tanglewood Baptist Church and Elmer Irby, Church of Christ minister at Rockdale, officiated. He was BORN in Hays County, TX. His parents were M/M William Bownds. He had lived his life in territory adjacent to Thorndale, many years of which were spent at Watson Branch and had lived in Rockdale since 1941. Married to Miss Isabelle Waters on 1/1/1905. BOWNDS, Mae L. Reeves of Taylor. Age 77. Died 8/19/1983 (Friday) at her home in Taylor. Services held 8/22/1983 (Monday) at Phillips and Luckey Chapel in Rockdale. Burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Rockdale. Rev. Harold Cook officiated. She had been a resident of Taylor for the past 6 years. She was BORN 12/03/1906 in Thorndale.
