CAMP, Mrs. A. M. "Aunt Molly or Mammy Camp" of San Gabriel Comm. Age 89. Died (?) (Sunday) at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hood Cardwell, near Rockdale. Services held from San Gabriel Christian Church. Burial in Locklin Cemetery. Rev. W.R. Willis, former pastor of Methodist Church, Thorndale, and Rev. H.E. Crone of the Christian Church at Rockdale. Grandsons were pallbearers: Felton Camp, Hope Camp, Jr., Emory B. Camp, LaTellier Camp, Welden Caldwell, Murrell Camp, and Ike Camp. She was BORN in Atlanta, Georgia to Hardin & Betsy Haywood. "Close to 90, she was, her last birthday, August 4th, making the passing of the 89th milestone on life's journey." Married A.M. Camp on 10/28/1869, in Mountain District, Walton Co., GA. and for 69 years, she and Mr. Camp trod life's pathway together, the first years of marriage being spent in their native Georgia. Came to Texas in 2/1888 and settled on the Williamson-Burnet County lines. The family later moved to the Locklin Comm. on Thorndale side of the river. In 1891 moved across the river to the present homestead. She was beloved by all that knew her. CAMP, Mrs. Alma S. (M. Murrell) of San Gabriel Community. Age 86. Died ?/1984 (Sat.) in Richards Memorial Hospital. Services held (Sunday) in the Locklin Cemetery in the San Gabriel Comm. Rev. Married Marion Murrell Camp on 1/9/1921 in Ft.Worth. Preceded in death by husband on 1/16/1966 and a grandson, Parker Peebles on 12/29/1983. CAMP, Bert of San Gabriel. Age 83. Died 5/1973 in Temple (Monday). Services held (Wed.) Harper-Talasek Funeral Home, Temple. Burial in Hillcrest Cemetery, Temple. He was BORN 3/18/1890, the youngest and last survivor of 5 brothers and 2 sisters: E.A. Camp, former Rockdale attorney and mayor; H.H. Camp, San Gabriel; Henry (Sweetie) Camp, Thorndale; Hope Camp, San Gabriel; (5th brother not named); Mrs. Hood Caldwell of Rockdale and Mrs. Howard Amason of Roswell, NM. The 7 were children of the late M/M A.M.Camp who came from Georgia to San Gabriel. Bert was a contractor and civic leader in Temple where he had lived about 50 years. SURVIVORS: Wife and a number of nephews and nieces, including Mrs. Sam (Bootsy) Peebles and W.H. (Blue) Caldwell of Rockdale and great-nephews, Emory C. Camp of Rockdale and Jim Camp of Cameron. CAMP, Mrs. Elizabeth (E. A.) of Rockdale. Age 83. Died ?/1963 (Sunday) in a Cameron hospital after a long illness. Services held (Monday) at Phillips & Luckey Chapel in Rockdale. Burial in IOOF Cemetery, Rockdale. Rev. Ben Russell, pastor of the Rockdale Presbyterian Church, officiated. Pallbearers were: W.H. Caldwell, Ike Camp, M.M. Camp, W.H. Camp, Jr., Felton Camp, Drayton McLane, Walter Lawrence and Robert Ellott. She was BORN 10/16/1880 in Abbeyville, SC. Married Emory A. Camp in 1906. Active member of the Rockdale Garden Club, Music Club, the Reading Club. She and Mr. Camp were founders of the Rockdale Presbyterian Church. SURVIVORS: Son, Emory B. Camp of Cameron; sister, Sally Majors of Richmond, VA.; 3 grandchildren.

CAMP, Emory A. of Rockdale. Age 79. Died ?/1960 (Monday) in a Temple hospital where he underwent major surgery on Thursday. Services held at (?). Burial in IOOF Cemetery, Rockdale. Graveside services by the Masonic Lodge. Rev. Frank G. Nedbalek, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Rockdale, conducted funeral services. He was BORN in 1881 in Georgia and moved to Texas with his parents in 1887. His father was a soldier in the Confederate Army. Attended Sam Houston State Normal School, Huntsville, for a year, then got a job teaching school in North Milam County. Studied law while teaching. Following completion of legal studies at the University of Texas Law School, he taught school at Maysfield. He worked his way through law school as a waiter in the University dining hall and as a clerk in an Austin store. Later moved to Rockdale to begin the practice of law. Married Miss Elizabeth McLane in 1906. Among his many civic and business activities, Camp, often called "Mr. Rockdale" by citizens of the South Milam town, was a member of Texas Bar Asso. and the American Bar Asso. Practiced law in Rockdale since 1902 from the same office and had practiced in every level of the state & federal court system in Texas. Mayor of Rockdale for 25 years and was city attorney at the time of his death. Elder in the First Presbyterian Church, Rockdale and a member of the Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years. Served 2 terms in the Texas Legislature and co-authored some of the state's earliest insurance laws. Past-president of Rockdale State Bank and was chairman of the board of the bank when he died. Vice-president of the Rockdale, Sandow and Southern Railroad. Active in the Democratic party conventions. "The venerable lawyer still used a roll top desk in his office on Rockdale's Main Street and wore the wing collars of an earlier era." SURVIVORS: Wife, Elizabeth, Rockdale; son, Emory B. CAMP, Emory B. of Rockdale & Cameron. Age 56. Died 6/1966 (Tuesday) in a Temple hospital. He had been ill for the past week and underwent major surgery Saturday. Funeral services held (Thursday) at the First Methodist Church, Cameron. Burial in IOOF Cemetery in Rockdale. Rev. E.J. Davis and Rev. Richard Freeman officiated. BORN in Rockdale 7/10/1909 to M/M E.A. Camp. Received his law degree from the University of Texas and practiced law with his father. They had offices in Cameron and Rockdale. He had practiced law in Cameron since the early 1930's and owned Camp Insurance Agency with offices in Cameron and Rockdale. His career included elective posts in the state legislature from 1932-1935 and as Milam County District Attorney from 1935-1939. Had a 3-year term on the board of directors of Texas State Bar Assoication. Active in the Local, State and National Democratic Party politics. Served on the Milam Co. Democratic Executive Committee. Member of the Texas Electoral College in 1963 and was a voting delegate to the National Democratic Convention in 1964. Member of the Milam Co. Bar Asso., Texas Bar Asso. and the American Bar Asso. Past president of the Cameron Chamber of Commerce. Member of the Knights of Pythias, Masonic Lodge and First Methodist Church of Cameron. He served as a director of the Rockdale State Bank. The body was at the family home, 2005 N. Harding, until 8 a.m. and lay in state at the First Methodist Church from 8 a.m. until the funeral hour. Tanner, Grove Partain, Joe Yeager, William Glascock, J.V. Applin and Evan Weaver. He was BORN in Rome, GA. on 2/27/1884. He had been a resident of Thorndale for the past 50 years. He was a farmer and despite his illness he continued to see after his vast farming interests. Chairman of the board of directors of Rockdale State Bank, 32nd Degree Mason and Member of Ben Hur Shrine. Member of San Gabriel Christian Church. SURVIVORS: Wife, Mrs. Alma S. CAMP, William Hope (Sugar) of San Gabriel. Age 84. Died 2/13/1990 (Tuesday) as the result of a tractor accident at the Camp family farm in San Gabriel. BORN 7/26/1921 in Milam County. Member of Brookhollow Church of Christ where she taught a children's Bible class. She also visited nursing homes and took care of children in the church nursery. CANADA, Joe J. of Lexington. Age 77, Died 1/26/1989 (Thursday) in a Temple hospital. Services held (Sat.) at Sheffield Funeral Home Chapel in Temple. Burial in Bellwood Memorial Park with full military honors. Rev. Gene York officiated. He was BORN 3/1/1911 in Willow City to Lee & Josie Henderson Canada. He attended public schools in Willow City, served with the Navy in WW-2 and was employed as a pipefitter in the Houston-Texas City area for 40 yrs. until his retirement in 1978. Zion Comm. of Burleson Co. Burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery. He was BORN 5/8/1920 in Mt. Zion to M/M. Jim and Mary Canady, he was a lifelong resident of the Mt. Zion Community.
