Revs. Everett McCollum and Murray Hardy officiated. Sterling Funeral Home of Anahuac in charge of arrangements. She was BORN 4/11/1899 in Beaumont and was the 8th of 9 children. All have preceded her in death except Mary Lou Tierney. She graduated from Beaumont High School and Nash Business School in Beaumont. Lived in Beaumont, Houston, LaGrange and Devers. Moved to Anahuac in 1941 and worked at the courthouse in various programs and was employed as deputy clerk in the tax office. Elected county treasurer in 1948 and served 22 years, retiring in 1970. Member of the above church where she served as treasurer, member of administrative board for 4 years and a Sunday School teacher. Active member of Eastern Star for 58 years. SURVIVORS: 4 sons, Calvert Gibson of Anahuac, LeRoy of Denver, CO., W.O. of Liberty and Ronald of Kerrville; daughters, Analene Karr of Houston; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. GIBSON, Sr., Charles of Conoley Comm. Age 69. Died ?/1968 (Tuesday). Services held (Friday) at Condra Memorial Chapel in Taylor. Burial in Salty Cemetery. Rev. Clyde Majors, pastor of the Hutto Baptist Church, officiated. He was BORN the son of Friend and Nancy Broadway Gibson on 7/26/1891 in Montgomery, AL. At the age of 9, he and his family moved to the Conoley Comm. south of Thorndale where he lived all his life except for 18 months in the McCloskey hospital in Temple. Married Miss Ellie Rae Caffey on 12/17/1919, who preceded him in death on 11/24/1952. Charlie as he was known, was a farmer. Member of the Methodist Church for many years. Member of the Emil Hengst American Legion Post. Veteran of WW-1, serving with the 36th Division,he saw action in France. SURVIVORS: 2 sons, Charles Gibson, Jr. and Grady Ray Gibson, both of Houston; 2 grandsons; 2 granddaughters.

GIBSON, James J. of Sandy Creek Comm. Age 89. Died 6/5/1974. Services held (Thursday) in Phillips & Luckey Chapel in Rockdale. Burial in Sandy Creek Cemetery. Minister George Hall of the Church of Christ officiated. He was BORN 10/22/1884 at Davilla, son of the late M/M. John Gibson. He lived in the Sandy Creek Comm. the past 44 years. Retired farmer. She was BORN Mary Elizabeth Lee on 11/17/1861 in Lewisville, Alabama, the daughter of Jeff and Mary Lee. Moved to Texas with her parents in 1873 and has lived in this area since. Married Neal Gilchrist on 5/10/1891. Preceded in death by husband, and 4 children. GILCHRIST, Weldon Joe of Thorndale. Age 57. Died 1/26/1989 in Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale. Services held (Sunday) at Condra Memorial Chapel. Burial in Locklin Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites. Mr. Gilchrist was BORN 10/27/1931 to Weldon and Mabeth Jones Gilchrist. He lived in Thorndale all his life where he engaged in farming. Member of San Gabriel Christian Church. Member of Masonic Lodge 978 of Thorndale. Preceded in death by his father and a brother. GILCHRIST, Weldon J. B. of San Gabriel. Age 62. Died 5/1970 (in paper 5/14/70). Services held (Thursday) at Condra Memorial Funeral Chapel. Burial in the family plot at the Locklin Cemetery. Rev. W.R. Parmer of Valley Mills officiated. During WW-2, he returned to one of his most pleasant pastimes, that of coaching, and his Thorndale Bulldogs won a championship under his tutelage. He was BORN 4/01/1908, the son of the late J.Malcom Gilchrist and Hattie Johnson Gilchrist, at the family home at San Gabriel. He attended the San Gabriel and Thorndale Public schools before graduation at San Marcos Baptist Academy. He attended Howard Payne College in 1928-1930 where he was an outstanding athlete, both in football and track team coached by the late J.H. "Cap" Shelton. Upon completion of his pre-med qualifications, he enrolled at the Univ. of Texas Medical School in Galveston, but he soon convinced his father that his life would be happier with farming, so he began his life's vocation in 1931. He married his college sweetheart, Miss Mabeth Jones of Thornton in 1930. Member of the Christian Church and the Thorndale Masonic Lodge No. 978. He was a 32nd degree Mason.
