JUERGENS, Ella Etzel of Taylor. Age 89. Died 11/11/1987 (Wed.) in Johns Community Hospital. Services held 11/13 (Friday) in Condra Memorial Chapel. Burial in Capital Memorial Park. Revs. David Bulgerin and E.A. Heye officiated. She was BORN in Round Top in 1908 and later moved to Dime Box. Received BA Degree in English from Southwest Texas State Teachers College and began her teaching career in Dime Box. She taught in rural schools at Hoxie, Long Branch, Tennill, San Gabriel, Beyersville and Thrall. Retired in 1971 and was teaching in Taylor Middle School at that time. Member of St.Paul Lutheran Church and taught Sunday School for many years, also a member of the Choir. Member of Thimble & Needle Sewing Club, a family historian for the Etzel and Eichler families and an avid "42" player. Election judge for Williamson Co. Maintained an active interest in sports and at SWTSTC had been doubles tennis champion with her sister, Alta. Preceded in death by husband, Lee Juergens; parents, Ernst and Martha Eichler Etzel; 2 sisters, Alice Etzel Anschutz and Alta Etzel Haisler. SURVIVORS: 2 nieces, Carol Haisler Rhodes of Houston and Linda Haisler Radde of Meridian and their husbands, Allen Rhodes and Kenneth Radde; great-nephews, Stephen Haisler Rhodes of Houston and Karl Phillip Radde of Meridian; great-niece, Anna Marie Radde of Meridian and her mother-in-law, Pauline Juergens of Giddings.

She was BORN 4/29/1905 in Thorndale, the eldest daughter of John V. and Leona Wilson Echols. Married at the age of 16 to William D. Janek, who preceded her in death in 1951. Charter member of Marbach Christian Church. Retired after 25 years in the electronics division of Kelly Air Force Base, San Antonio. The family moved to San Antonio in 1941. Preceded in death by husband, sister, and 2 sons. SURVIVORS: 2 sons, Neal and Harold Junek; 3 daughters, Gloria Rochester, Janice Robbins and Carolyn Junek, all of San Antonio; brother, Avery Echols of Lorena, TX.; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; numerous niece and nephews. Fred Bomar officiated. Weed-Corley of Austin in charge of arrangements. He was BORN 10/18/1919 and lived in the home of M/M. Dean Stiles while attending high school in Thorndale where he was a star football player, graduated from Thorndale High School. He went on to Kilgore College and the Univ. of Texas where he pursued a football career and became a Longhorn assistant coach and played football at San Diego Naval Air Station while in the navy, ending a stint with the Miami Sea Hawks. Member of the above church in Austin. Employed at Superior Dairies at the time of his death.
