She was BORN 7/15/1925 in Thrall and grew up in Taylor, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. B.A. Kirkpatrick and the granddaughter of Dr. S.B. Kirpatrick of Thrall. Graduate of Taylor High School, Texas Women's Univ. and the Univ. of Texas Medical School in Galveston. Did her internship at City-County Hospital in Ft.Worth and established her medical practice in Big Spring. Suffered a serious accident which kept her in a wheelchair permanently, but she went on to complete a residency in physical medicine at New York Univ., Bellevue Medical Center and at Gonzales Warm Springs Hospital. Served as director of Warm Springs Foundation, and later appointed medical director of Carruth Rehabilitation Center in Dallas. Gov. John Connally presented her the Handicapped Texan of the Year Award in 1963. Received many more awards including being cited for Meritorious Service by the President's Committee on Employment of the Handicapped. Belonged to several medical associations, such as American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Retired from active practice in 1972 and resided in Rockport since retirement.
