Graveside services held in St.Paul's Lutheran Church cemetery. He was BORN 2/14/1877 in Fedor, TX. Baptized 2/25/1877 and confirmed 3/22/1891 by Pastor G. Birkmann. Moved to Thorndale in 1900 and after working for several farmers, he bought his own farm. Married Miss Martha Niemtschk in Fedor on 2/11/1902. Living on his own farm from 1902 to 1952, they reared 9 children, 4 sons and 5 daughters. His wife preceded him in death in 8/1951. At age of 7, she left Europe to make her home in the U.S. First lived in Lincoln, TX., where she was confirmed on 3/26/1893 by Pastor Ernst. Married John E. Lehman on 2/11/1902 by Pastor Birkmann in Fedor. Union blessed with 9 children, 4 sons and 5 daughters. Shortly after the wedding the couple moved to Thorndale and lived on the same farm for 49 years. She was a deligent housewife, companion to her husband and a kind and loving mother to her children. Fredrich Diehl. The family settled in Houston when they arrived from Germany when Mrs. Lengert was an infant. She had lived in Rockdale for 82 years, coming from Houston. She would have reached the age of 99 years had she lived until 8/25/1973. She married Otto Lengert in 1895 in Rockdale and built the house at 601 Ackerman St., where she lived all her life in Rockdale and where all her children were born. 2 daughters, Miss Margaret Lengert and Mrs. Ruby Hutton still live in the old homeplace in Rockdale. Husband, Otto, was manager of the hardware and farm implement dept. of the old Henne & Meyer firm for approximately 40 years and was well known in the business life of Rockdale.
