MAGEE, Marion C. of Dayton. Age 42. Died 7/1979 on arrival at a Beaumont hospital shortly after the 1:13p.m. shooting last Tuesday after an argument over apartment rent and 2 Beaumont men have been charged with his murder. A .38-caliber pistol was found in a wooded area near the scene of the shooting. Funeral & Burial information not listed in article. Mr. Magee was BORN 1/15/1937, the son of Dessie Magee and brother of Craig Magee, both of Rockdale. He was a resident of Dayton, owned an insurance agency in Beaumont and also some apartments on that city's north side. Besides the Beaumont property, he also owned 2 Baytown insurance agencies, interest in other insurance agencies in southeast Texas and about 75 rent houses in Baytown. Married Joyce Wise in 1949 in Hanover Comm. He held a bachelor's and master's degrees from SWTSU and was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church. Mr. Martin was a well known school administrator and basketball coach throughout Texas. He also served as the first mayor of Milano. He had resigned from coaching only the spring before his death and did not seek re-election as mayor in 1980, choosing instead, to devote his time to a building and renovation project for the Milano school. Despite health problems, he always worked for a better tomorrow for the school, the city and the people. The park in Milano is named for him - The Charlie Martin Park. She stated many times her mission on earth was having children. She belonged to the Blum Penticostal Church for many years. She always made sure the pastor had food and was known to have bought tires for one pastor's car. Preceded in death by 3 sons, Clinton (baby), Edd, Jr. in Corregidor on 8/28/1942, twin girls at birth, and oldest daughter, Maurice, on 8/8/1967, all buried in Blum Cemetery. MASTERS, Tom of 417 Campbell Rd., Evansville, IN. Age 83. Died 1/22/1971 (Friday) in St.Mary's Hospital, Evansville. Services held 1/24 (Sunday) in Edgewood Baptist Church, Nicholasville, KY. Eulogy given by his daughter, Lucy and pallbearers were nephews. Burial not listed. He was BORN 7/24/1887 and was the oldest living authority on Walker Foxhounds and wrote many articles for hunting magazines. Inquiries concerning pedigrees came from all over the nation and abroad. To acknowledge his eminence as a hunter, a perpetual trophy was established by his family and the Chase Publishing Co. for the National Foxhunters' Asso. He was an employee of the New York Central Railroad for 55 years until retirement in 1963.
