NALE, Allen of Thorndale & Rockdale. Age 79. Died 7/1971 (Monday) in a Rockdale hospital. He was ill for some time. He was BORN 6/30/1892. M/M. Nale were residents of Thorndale for several years living in the Chandler home which they purchased. This home was later bought by Norman Clements and moved to the Gabriel for a summer home and the Nales moved to Rockdale. Only recently the Nales had sold their home in Rockdale and were partly packed for moving to Oklahoma when he was taken to the hospital where he passed away. NAUL, Lea Gill of Rockdale. Age 51. Died 6/1976 (Sat.) (in paper 6/24/76) in Richards Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Services held (Monday) in McKneely Funeral Chapel in Kentwood, LA. Burial in Woodland Cemetery. Phillips & Luckey of Rockdale in charge of arrangements. He was BORN 5/3/1925 at Ponchatoula, LA. to M/M. Lea Gill Naul, Sr. He was employed as an Industrial Engineer at Alcoa's Rockdale Works. Received his BA Degree from Southeastern Louisiana College; BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana State Univ. and a member of American Institute of Industrial Engineers and was a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas. Married Eleanor Bond at Kentwood on 6/19/1955. Veteran of WW-2, serving in the U.S. Navy. Member of St.John's United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by parents. NAUL, Mrs. Wilna Magee of Rockdale. Age 81. Died 10/1973 (Sunday) in the Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale. Services held at McKneely Funeral Home in Kentwood, LA. Burial in Kentwood. Phillips & Luckey, Rockdale, transported the body to Kentwood on Sunday. She was BORN 2/17/1892 in Louisiana, the daughter of the late M/M. Egbert Monroe Magee. Her home was in Kentwood, LA., but she had been in Rockdale the past 66 days with her son, Lea Naul. Her husband preceded her in death on 10/8/1967. SURVIVORS: Son, Lea G. NEMEC, Val of Rt.1, Thorndale. Age 79. Died 7/28/1972 (Friday) (in paper 8/3/72) in a Temple hospital, had been in ill health for 18 months. Services held (Sunday) at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron. Burial in Lilac Cemetery. Edward Marek officiated. He was BORN 2/14/1893 in Czechoslovakia and came to U.S. in early years. NEUBAUER, Miss Ruby of Taylor. Age 79. Died 9/4/1988 (Sunday) at Johns Community Hospital in Taylor. Services held 9/8/1988 (Thursday) in St.Paul Lutheran Church in Taylor. Burial in Taylor City Cemetery. Rev. Robert Letalien officiated. She was BORN 2/18/1909 and had been a nurse in Taylor since before Johns Clinic opened. At the age of 57, she went to Ethiopia as a missionary for 6 years and upon her return wrote a book of her experiences there, holding an autograph party only recently. (No Survivors listed.) NEUMANN, Mrs. Maureen of Edna. Age 68. Died 6/9/1988 (Thursday) in the Edna Hospital. Graveside services held 6/10/1988 in the Gause Cemetery. Rev. David Murff officiated. BORN 11/30/1919 in Gause to Roy & Maurine Ward and lived in Thrall for many years. A member of St. John Lutheran Church in Thrall and of the Edna Church of Christ. Pallbearers were grandsons. NEVE, Frank of Thorndale. Age 65. Died ?/? (Friday) suddenly. Funeral pending. "Apparently in good health, he went to the lot to do the chores and while feeding his mules one of them bit him on the finger which gave his so much pain that he left his milk bucket in the cow lot and went to the house, soon complaining of feeling dizzy and soon swooned and was dead in a few seconds. It is possible that a clot formed and was carried to the brain causing apolectic condition. He leaves a wife, 2 sons and one daughter, Mrs. H.C. Jungmichel of Port Arthur, Byron and Stiles at home."

Newsom at Wilson on 12/13/1925. He preceded her in death on 1/13/1970. She had resided in Plains for the past 18 years and was owner of the D.C. Newsom Gin. He was BORN 1/26/1916 in Milano, the son of M/M. W.O. Newton. He was an architectural supervisor by vocation. Veteran of WW-2, member of VFW at Weatherford and member of the Overton Masonic Lodge. NEWTON, Jr., James B. of Hollywood, CA. Age 45. Died 3/9/1986 after an extended illness. Graveside services held (Friday) 3/21 at the IOOF Cemetery in Rockdale. Rev. Hume W. Reeves, Vicar, St.Thomas Episcopal Church, officiated. Memorial services held at Dr. Newton's home in Hollywood at 11 a.m. Saturday. Dr. Newton taught stage design at Fresno State in the late 1960's & early 1970's. He graduated from the Univ. of Texas at Austin and received his master's and doctorate degrees in fine arts from Yale Univ. He was art director and theatrical designer for hundreds of professional concerts, television and theatre productions throughout the United States. His works were used in productions at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, at Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall in New York City for numerous performers including Barbara Streisand and Neil Diamond. Dr. Newman also taught at the Univ. of Calif. at Los Angeles and the Univ. of Texas at Austin. He was a member and former acolyte at St.Thomas Church in Rockdale. Past president of the State Asso. of Mutual Assessment Insurance Companies, past president of the Burial Asso. NEWTON, Mrs. Sallie Barbee of Pecos formerly of Thorndale. Age 34. Died 9/3/1931 at Camp Hospital at Pecos, TX. following a short illness. Burial took place at Kyle, TX. on 9/6 (Sunday) with many friends and relatives from Thorndale in attendance. She was BORN 6/27/1897 at Kyle and united with the Baptist Church when she was 13 years old. Together with her parents and sisters, she moved to Thorndale in 1913 where she made her home until her marriage and moved to West Texas. Married D.H. Newton of Pecos on 6/10/1920, 1 child was born to this union, James Harold. SURVIVORS: Husband, D.H. Newton and son, James Harold; father, J.G. Barbee of Thorndale, 3 sisters, Mrs. E.L. NEWTON, Dr. W. R. of Cameron. Age 64. Died 5/21/1938 (Sat.) after a brief illness. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cameron. He was BORN 9/1/1893 in Boone, AR., son of Major George Washington & Nancy Ann Eliza Brown Newton. Worked his way through Memphis Medical College in Memphis, TN. graduating in 1899. Married Ella Whiteside, in AR. She is buried in Rogers, TX. Married Matilda Julia Mondrick in 1906 and 7 children born to this union. Built the Buckholts Hospital, 1st hospital in Milam Co. and it burned in 1912; organized the Buckholts State Bank and Buckholts Mercantile Co. He was State Senator from the 13th Senatorial District. Dr. Newton's son, George Mayo Newton, who was a State Representative, founded the Cameron Hospital in 1913. Dr. Newton was a member of the American College of Surgeons, and formerly president of the Milam Co. Medical Asso. NEWTON, Jr., Dr. W. R. (Billy) of Cameron. Age 73. Died 6/17/1982. He was buried (Sat.) in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron. BORN 5/07/1909 in Buckholts to William Rowland & Matilda Mondrik Newton. Schooled at the Univ. of Texas. He established the 1st hospital in Cameron, was well-known, revered physician in this entire area. Dr. Billy built the Newton Memorial Hospital in Cameron in memory of his father. Married a student nurse, Ruth Nichols on 4/16/1935 in Houston. They had 3 children, William Rowland, III; Elizabeth; and Turner; 5 grandchildren. SS Death Benefit on #460-14-5379.
