Reinhold F. & Katherine Hamff Peschke. He was a farmer and rancher. Married Louise Bertha Burgdore on 1/3/1924 in Grassyville Comm. Reared and educated in Taylor and had also lived in Thorndale during the early 1930's being associated in the gin business with his father for many years. In 1957 he returned to Thorndale where he was associated with the Thorndale State Bank until 1960 when he moved to Austin. Preceded in death by sister, Rita; 2 brothers, Morris and Cecil, and his father. Married Robert Franklin Petty, who died in 1953 at age 81, from Navarro Co. Daughter, Mildred Petty Muelheisen, who died in 1978 and Robert Petty of Houston. Mrs. Petty lived in Grand Prairie and New Braunfels before moving to Houston in 1981. SURVIVORS: Son, Robert H. PHILLIPS, Daniel B. of Longview, WA. Age 64. Died 5/5/1977 (in paper 7/21/77) in Kodiak, Alaska hospital following a heart attack. Services held (Tuesday) in Gebert Chapel of Longview Community Church, of which he was a member. BORN 3/20/1913 in Thorndale, TX. to W.C. & Ellie Jones Phillips. WW-2 veteran, serving in the 13th Armored Div., seeing duty in Europe. Received the Bronze Star for valor in combat and discharged as an Army captain in 1946. Moved to Longview in 1927 and graduated from R.A. Long High School, where he was a member of the 1930 football team. Executive in charge of container operations for the West Coast of Longview Fibre Co. He was en route from Seattle with his son, Christopher and son-in-law, Russell Moore, to the fishing grounds off Dutch Harbor, Alaska, aboard a king crab boat which he and Moore recently had purchased as partners in North Pacific Enterprises. PHILLIPS, Earl of Huntsville, AL. Age (?). Died ?/1982 (Sunday) suddenly, so cousins in Thorndale were informed. He had been a frequent visitor in Thorndale throughout the years and was a cousin of D.M. and Guy Phillips of Thorndale and Mrs. Vashti Newman of Rockdale.

PHILLIPS, Ellen of Los Angeles, formerly of Thorndale. Age 94. Died 6/18/1972. Burial at Valhalla Cemetery in North Hollywood. BORN 1878 in San Gabriel. Her maiden name was Jones. Married Will Phillips. She lived in Oregon and California after moving from Thorndale in the late 30's. SURVIVORS include son John Phillips, Sherman Oaks, CA.

PHILLIPS, Esther of Rockdale. Age 61. Died 11/1975 (Sunday) (in paper on 11/27/75) at Richards Memorial Hosptial after an illness of several months. Services (Monday) at Phillips & Luckey Chapel, Rockdale. Burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Rev. D.D. Simpson, First Baptist Church, officiated. BORN 6/26/1914 near Rockdale to M/M. Gottlieb Balcar. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Married Laurence E. Phillips at Caldwell on 7/8/1939. Husband died 7/29/1973. She was owner of the Lemon Tree, ladies dress shop in Rockdale. SURVIVORS: 2 sons, Gerry W. Phillips of Austin and Larry E. Phillips of Munich, Germany; granddaughter, Katherine Phillips. Larry E. *PHILLIPS, Ruby of Taylor. Age 74. Died 2/1977 (Friday) (in paper 2/24/1977) in hospital in Taylor having been hospitalized for 9 days following a stroke at her home. Services held (Monday) in Condra Memorial Chapel, Taylor. Rev. Jim Willis officiated. Burial in Thorndale City Cemetery. BORN 12/12/1902 near Lexington, Lee Co., to C.C. "Lum" Rouse and Mortie Adrena Howell Rouse. The family moved to Giddings when she was 3 and to Thorndale in 1909. Married Douglas Madison Phillips in Taylor on 12/25/1919, couple celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1969. She was a piano teacher for more than 40 yrs. and 25 of her pupils went on to become church pianists. Served as assistant or judge of local elections for more than 35 yrs. and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Her family tree was traced through her maternal grandmother back to General Robert E. Lee. SURVIVORS: Husband, D.M. Phillips of Thorndale; 2 daughters, Mrs. Adrienne Clayton of Texas City and Mrs. Gwendolyn Chappel of Memphis, TX.; son, Bruce Phillips of Crystal Lake, IL.; 9 grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Ida Hinke of Austin. PHILLIPS, Shelby of Thorndale. Age 94. Died 4/1965 (Sunday) in a Rockdale hospital following a short illness. Services held (Monday) from Phillips & Luckey Chapel, Rockdale. Burial in Thorndale City Cemetery. Revs. Thomas White, Trinity Methodist Church, Thorndale, and Frank Cady, St.John's Methodist Church, Rockdale, officiated. BORN 1/6/1871 in Tennessee to M/M. Elijah Phillips. He lived with an aunt and uncle in Fayetteville, TN. when he was 7 after his mother passed away 2 years before. At age of 15 he took a trip up the Chisholm Trail into Oklahoma, known as Indian Territory. He came to the Salty Comm. in 1894 and worked on farms of the late R.M. Beard, Sr. and late Frank C. Clement. Retired rancher. Married Lillian Jinks on 8/26/1896, she died 7/2/1956. Daughter, Artie Belle, died 8/20/1928. He took over the management of the Bremond Ranch near Thorndale in 1903 and remained there until his retirement in 1945 when he moved to Thorndale. SURVIVORS: 2 sons, Douglas M.
