SCHARBIUS, Bernhard (Bernie) of Ft.Worth, formerly of Rockdale. Age 56. Died 3/1977 (Tuesday) (in paper 3/24/77) when he was killed at Dallas’ Love Field as he was attempting to crank a twin-engine airplane. The brake slipped and he was slashed to death. Services were pending at "Reporter deadline". He was BORN 4/27/1919. Mr. Scharbius, a former employee for H.H. Coffield of Rockdale, was employed with Central Corporation of Dallas. He was a pilot for the Lutfwaffe during WW-2 and planned a book on his experiences which included serving in a Russian prison camp. SURVIVORS: Wife, Lori, of Ft.Worth, and son, Bernhard G. SCHELNICK, Carl August of Thorndale. Age 79. Died 1/29/1949, shortly before his death he was taken to his son, Charles, and from there to the Rollins Brook Hospital. Services held 2/2/1949 (Wed.), in St.Paul's Lutheran Church in Thorndale. Rev. F.H. Stelzer officiated. Mr. Schelnick was BORN 12/24/1869 at Serbin in Lee Co., TX. He was baptized by the 1st pastor of St.Paul's Lutheran Church in Serbin. Married Emma Helene Miertschin on 1/15/1895 and 5 boys & 5 girls were born to this union. He moved to Thorndale about 1908 and was a farmer. His wife preceded him in death on 1/25/1925 and he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Arnold Felfe on the farm, and in 1930 he moved to town with his daughter and family, making his home with them until his death. He was always a willing worker and found employment as long as he was able to work. He was devoted to his Lord and interested in the work of the church.
