STARR, Milton Ray of Rockdale. Age 40. Died 8/30/1962 (Thursday) (in paper 9/6/1962) about 11:30 a.m., when the cab of his truck was struck by a Santa Fe Chief passenger train at a grade crossing at Pettibone, west of Cameron. Funeral services were held (Sat.) at 10 a.m. at the Phillips & Luckey Chapel in Rockdale. Burial in the IOOF Cemetery in Rockdale. He was BORN 3/28/1922 and a native of Winnsboro. He was a resident of Rockdale since 1947 and formerly lived in Thorndale. Employed by H.H. Coffield Co. for a number of years and had delivered a truck load of ice to Fort Hood and was enroute to his home to Rockdale. Veteran of WW-2. STAUFFER, Ollie of Byersville Comm. near Taylor. Age (?). Died ?/1952 while working on a high line near Sandoval and was exposed to a heavy electrical shock on Thursday morning. All efforts to revive him failed. He was employed by Texas Power & Light Co.
STEARNS, Auburn Clare of Taylor. Age 97. Died 8/16/1975 (Sat.) at Johns Community Hospital following an illness of 5 months. Services held (Sunday) at Condra Funeral Chapel in Taylor. Burial in Taylor City Cemetery. Revs. George M. Matthews, pastor of Tenth Street Methodist Church and Don Williams, pastor of First Christian Church, officiated. Mr. Stearns was BORN 3/15/1878 at Circleville and lived his entire life in Williamson County. He was the son of pioneers, Harvey T. Stearns, who came here from Illinois in 1847, and Frances Helen Eubank Stearns who came with her family from Kentucky in 1853. He married Margaret Tegge of Macedonia in 1913. Their children are: Clara (Mrs. Don) Scarbrough, Georgetown; Ralph Auburn Stearns, Taylor; and Iris (Mrs. Joe) Curik, Rockdale. STELZER, Rev. Fred H. of Thorndale & Austin. Age 90. Died 1/1978 (Thursday) (in paper 1/26/78) in an Austin nursing home. Services held (Sat.) at St.Paul Lutheran Church, Thorndale. Burial was in the Church Cemetery in Thorndale. Rev. Louis Pabor and Rev. Vernon M. Appel, present pastor of St.Paul's, officiated. He was BORN 6/23/1888, in Augusta, MO. He attended St.Paul schools in Concordia, MO., graduated from Concordia Seminary in St.Louis and was ordained into the ministry at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings on 8/20/1911. He pastored churches in Palacios and Edna and from 1916-1919 served churches in Schulenberg and Shiner. He served as pastor of St.Paul Lutheran Church, Thorndale, for nearly 40 years. He served for 18 years as Secretary of the Texas Lutheran District; member of the Missions Board for 3 years; on Board of Control of Concordia College in Austin for 15 years; and served as Counselor of the Thorndale District of the Church for 15 years. Member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Austin at the time of his death. SURVIVORS: 4 daughters; Mrs. Mildred Holt, Ft. For past 8 years she was supervisor in the PBX Dept. of St.David's Hospital. Her husband, Jack Stephens, preceded her in death in 1981.
