TAEGEL, Edwin A. of San Antonio. Age 83. Died 6/15/1986 (Sunday) in San Antonio in a restaurant to celebrate Father's Day when he collapsed and died a short time later. (No funeral info. available.) He was BORN 5/14/1903 in Rockdale. Lived in Thorndale for many years attending school there. His father owned/operated a mercantile business. Graduated from Univ. of Texas with a Masters degree in Petroleum Geology. He was freshman class president and in the first group to be elected to the prestigious Texas Cowboys. Member of American Asso. of Petroleum Geologist. Member of Christ Episcopal Church in San Antonio. Member of Delta Chi fraternity. Married Dorothy Jackson of Laredo on 12/26/1931. TAYLOR, Mary Michalcik of Weimar. Age 80. Died 7/28/1987 (Tuesday) at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Houston, following an 8-month bout with lung cancer. Rosary cited 7/29 in the Chapel of Hubbard Funeral Home in Weimar. Burial mass held 7/30, officiated by Rev. Hughes with Stanley Kucherka, Jr. of Rosenberg, a nephew of the deceased serving as a lector and presenting the eulogy. Favorite hymns were played by organist Mrs. Charles "Mickey" Glueck of Cat Spring, Mrs. Taylor's niece. Burial in St.Michael's Catholic Cemetery, Weimer. She was BORN 5/17/1907 in Holman to John and Mary Vaclavik Michalcik. A lifelong resident of the Weimar area. Married Willie H. Taylor on 11/10/1925 in Weimar. She was a well-known seamstress, belonged to a sewing club and a lifelong member of St.Michael's Catholic Church in Weimer and was a Catholic Daughter. Taylor on 6/15/1907. Her husband was president of Howard Payne College from 1929 to 1955 and they opened their home to all the students who attended the college during his tenure of office. She was a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church for more than 60 years. She had been in failing health for the past 2 years and resided with her daughter, Mrs. William L. Laird at 2605 1st St., Brownwood. Preceded in death by her husband in 1955 and a daughter, Mrs. Brown (Jenny) Tomme of Ft.Worth. SURVIVORS: Daughter, Mrs. W.L. (Frances) Laird; 3 sons, Henry P. Taylor, Robert Taylor and Charles E. Taylor all of Brownwood; sister, Mrs. Grace Burns of Brownwood; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Large circle of friends. Mrs. Taylor was a close personal friend of Miss Eloise Laurence and a cousin of Dr. Cleo McChristy who visited Thorndale quite often in the Laurence home.
