He was a mechanical engineering graduate of Texas A&M Univ. and a WW-2 veteran of the Army Air Corps, flying 5 B-20 bomber missions in the Pacific Theatre. He was a construction engineer for Alcoa's Rockdale Works smelter, built in the early 1950's and transfered to Industrial Generating Co., power supplier for Alcoa, in May of 1953. He was elevated to the Fuel Department Supt. and became IGC General Supt. in 1966, as well as an IGC vice-president. When Texas Utilities Generating Company was formed, Earl transferred to Big Brown at Fairfield in 1970, as General Supt.
