WHITE, Mamie of Thorndale. Age 44. Died 1/3/1985 (Thursday) when a 12 gauge shot gun was fired into the face of the widowed mother and grandmother, while she was working as night attendant at Circle K convenience store in Thorndale. The small amount of money in the cash drawer was not disturbed. 2 Taylor hunters stopped at the store around 5 a.m., discovered the body and notified the police. She was a native of Giddings, but a longtime resident of Rockdale and Thorndale for the past 6 years. Member of First Baptist Church in Rockdale. Baptized in infancy, and confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Wehdem, Germany on 3/27/1879. Came to the U.S. in 1882 and landed in Galveston, settling in Brenham, TX. 3 years later in 1885, married Christian Wiegmann in New Wehdem Lutheran Church in Austin County where they spent the first years of married life. Later they moved to Williamson Co. and in 1897 moved to Detmold where they farmed until 1925 when they retired and moved into Thorndale. Member of above church.
