WUTHRICH, Sgt. Helfred of Taylor. Age (?). Died 1/14/1944 in Italy, in the service of his country. His aunt, Mrs. Herm. Fuessel had received a letter from him dated Jan. 20th, telling her he had been ill with malaria and in the hospital since Dec., but would be able to join his company in a few days. After their mother's death, Helfred and his brother, Arthur, who was also in Italy with a tank division, spent much time in the Fuessel home where they were treated with as much consideration and affection as if they were members of the family. Helfred worked as a tractor hand for A.L. Hinds and also on the Will W. Smith farm before entering service. He was one of the first to enter service when the draft became effective. He spoke of 3 major war engagements he participated in, one of which was the battle of Salerno. SURVIVORS: Father, F.J.
